IDENTITY

WHAT
DEFINES US

Wondering who or what Aletsch Enduro really is? No coincidence, no cookie-cutter design, but well thought out like a perfectly shaped line. The Rollibock, our wild spirit from the legend, stands for everything that matters to us: respect for nature, a positive attitude on the trail and a community that is there for each other. Our identity has its roots in rock, glaciers and history. Here you can learn where our identity comes from – and what it means for us.

The Legend of the Rollibock

The Rollibock, a terrifying creature of the alpine underworld, is a permanent inhabitant of the Great Aletsch Glacier. The only time he leaves it is when someone angers him. Legend has it that this happened many years ago when a hunter from the Fieschertal valley invaded his territory. In his greed, the reckless poacher destroyed rock crystals he coveted for himself. His ruthless actions aroused the wrath of the glacier monster. With his stolen crystals and poached game, the greedy hunter returned to the shores of Lake Märjelen at the foot of the Aletsch Glacier. With a fierce storm brewing, he was rescued by the ferryman. But instead of heading for the other shore, the boat made straight for the Aletsch Glacier. To the hunter’s utter horror, the ferryman turned into a huge, terrifying figure – the Rollibock. His goat-like appearance was fearsome: two huge horns projected from his head; his dark, fiery eyes flashed with anger; and instead of fur, long icicles hung down his body, making an eerie clinking sound as he moved. The enraged Rollibock proclaimed the hunter’s misdeeds before sinking the boat and its passenger in the waters of the glacial lake.

Aletsch Enduro and the Rollibock

If the legend is to be believed, the Rollibock can be a rather unpleasant fellow, but only if someone deliberately wants to harm nature and the animals and people living in it. The Rollibock is the mythical link between nature, responsibility and the spirit of the biking community. As a wild, formidable guardian of the glacier, he stands for:

  • Respect for alpine nature, which is a top priority at Aletsch Enduro.
  • Consequences for reckless behaviour, as the legend describes compellingly.
  • An emotional connection to the region, its history and local values.

“The Rollibock is our soul. He indwells every line, every stone, every bend.”

The Aletsch Enduro logo

Roots, values, signposts

Ever wondered what’s behind the Aletsch Enduro logo? No coincidence, no cookie-cutter design, but well thought out like a perfectly shaped line. It is the result of what defines us: alpine energy, a profound connection with nature, and a passion for mountain biking. Here you can learn how our logo came about – and what it signifies for us.

Aletsch Glacier – the power of the region

The biggest glacier in the Alps is not only the defining feature of the landscape, but also of our spirit. Its mighty presence symbolises permanence, respect and the force of nature – exactly what we experience when we’re out doing enduro.  Glacier biking? Not directly. But the spirit? It lives in every ride you do here.

Three peaks – three starting points

The three mountain peaks in the logo represent Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiesch-Eggishorn – our MTB hotspots at over 2000 metres. This is where lines begin that remain etched in your memory – technical and close to nature.

Rollibock – the legend in the mountains

The Rollibock is not some cutesy character from a fairy tale, he is part of an ancient legend. As a vigilant guardian of the glacier world, for us bikers he symbolises that we are guests on the trail and treat nature with respect – no matter how gnarly the ride gets. At the same time, it adds character and identity to our image.

Why team up with Bellwald? Because it makes sense.

The logo purposely incorporates elements from Bellwald Bike Park. Behind this is the close collaboration between our two regions – with the aim of strengthening the entire bike world in Upper Valais. The planned trail connection to Fiesch and the municipal merger of Unnergoms in 2027 – Fiesch, Bellwald, and Lax make one thing clear: this partnership goes far beyond symbolism. The visual link is a statement – for solidarity, quality and a strong joint presence as a first-class enduro destination in Switzerland.

What does “Ride the rush” mean?

The “rush” can stand for the adrenaline rush, a state of flow, and an intense experience.

1. Adrenaline
The “rush” is the feeling when you’re out on the trail – rapid pulse, total focus, bend after bend in the film. “Ride the rush” is a call to experience this rush, to let it happen, to feel it.

2. Natural energy
In the Aletsch Arena, the “rush” is also a natural phenomenon: crisp mountain air, technical mountainsides, panoramic ridges, rooty forests, glistening mountain lakes. You’re not just a passive observer of nature – you become part of its power.

3. Attitude
It’s not just about the thrill. It’s also about the attitude with which you ride: consciously, respectfully, with character. The Rollibock is watching – and expects you not only to look for the rush, but to ride it responsibly.

You can feel it from the very first stroke of the pedals: this place is different. Ride the rush is the sound that drives you. The sound of the trails, the heartbeat of the mountains, the rhythm of the community.
